Science Experiment On Space

science experiment on space
Question: Is space food supplemented with food grown hydroponically on the I.S.S.?

Or are the only plants grown up there just part of life sciences experiments?
By space food i mean astronaut rations.

Answer: The ISS does have a greenhouse garden called Lada. They grow peas and mizuna (and are studying how plants grow in microgravity – essential for trips to Mars and such), though the crops produced are only in small amounts. Their main diet is still pantry-style and reconstituted (tho (needless to say) much better than that astro-pack junk we buy at the gift shops). They are going to try some grains and barley next.

As a side note … they also found that the gardening has a psychological effect and when Columbia broke up – the crew on the ISS was assigned extra garden time to help calm them.

Science Experiment Burning Money

science experiment burning money
Question: I need a catchy title for my son’s science fair project.?

He is doing an experiment with burning money. He soaks a dollar bill in a mixture of alcohol and water. Then he lights the bill. It won’t burn, of course. The alcohol burns off leaving a wet dollar bill. Anyway, please HELP project due MONDAY. Thanks

Answer: Makes me think of the phrase “He’s got money to burn.” How about a variation of that:

Money to Burn: Studying the anti-inflammatory property of dollar bills

Science Experiment Control Group

science experiment control group
Question: What is a good title for my science experiment?

It is about whether deforestation affects the buildup of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and has to do with plants. Also: what is a variable or control group in an experiment (please answer this as simple as you can because i looked on other websites but the way they explained it was too complicated to understand.

Answer: a basic title may be ~Is Deforistation a cause of global warming ?
a control group is a sample or object that is left in it’s natural state
for example
an experiment to find out what hapens when you put white roses in a vase containg an amount of ink in the water
use 4 roses
1st in water with one drop of blue ink~slight bluish tint after 3 days
2nd in water with three drops of blue ink~deeper blue than the 1st
3rd in water with three drops of red ink~rose is a red shade
4th just in water~rose is white
from the above you can then conclude
the amount of ink in the water affects the colour .more ink is a darker shade
the colour of the ink affects the colour~blue +blue
red=red.
the control rose in plain water shows no colour change
conclusion putting coloured ink in the water changes the colour of the white rose
as you can see if you do not use a control you could not say it is the ink that causes the colour change
