I NEED a science experiment , for a competition against the WHOLE state , i have a group of 3 im good with chemistry and my freind is good with biology and my other freind is good with physics.
we were thinking about making a mirror with silver nitrate and sodium hydroxide but we couldnt cos of the guidelines that say
- no explosive, flammable or poisonous experiments
- no cruelty to animals
- no harm to the environment
so i need some good ideas and/or websites
i need the ideas to be bold , new and differant so dont tell me things like making a volcano with bi-carb soda and vinegar or changing flour colours and if you tell me something please try to tell me where i can get the chemical.

Answer: If I had a dollar for every time this question is asked …
As references, I’ve listed a wealth of sites with a wealth of project ideas. I haven’t checked all the links lately, so some may no longer be valid. Thanks to Former MN Science Teacher for many of them. Check out the past winners/entrants at the scisvc.org site for more difficult projects.
Be creative. Don’t waste this extremely valuable experience by copying someone else’s idea. Focus on what interests you. Choose the best and most interesting project that you’re confident you can accomplish in the time allowed. And allow plenty of time. A really good science project looks very good to college admissions officers, especially if the fair judges agree and award you a prize. You want to show that you can think, reason, manage a project, do proper experiments, write your results clearly and accurately, and that you’re willing to work. Do your own research. Do your own work. Get help and get advice. Teachers and people in industry are often very willing to give advice and to make equipment and facilities available to someone who really cares about their project. It’s a great experience.

Question: Why does the pH of apple juice change when you heat it?
I’m doing a science experiment and i need help with my hypothesis
Answer: Maybe when you heat it more of the molecules dissasociate into the hydrogen ions and the anions. Making it more acidic
And when you cool down they join together with the hydrogen again?
Just a hypothesis though.

Question: The “hot ice” experiment…..?
Is the hot ice experiment a hoax? Because my friend and I want to do this for our science experiment but I’m not sure if it is a hoax or not. Here are some links to hot ice experiments.

Thanks!!!
Answer: It is not a hoax and it is not really ice. It is a supersaturated solution of sodium acetate which crystallizes very rapidly when triggered.
