Science Experiment For First Grade

science experiment for first grade
Question: Is anyone else concerned and dismayed with all of this testing in public schools? Science is out: no time.?

Emphasis on testing in public schools:
Results:
Science Experiments and fairs are out (no time): no wonder this country has fallen behind in science
Social studies: most students now wouldn’t be able to identify the first line of the Declaration of Independence. No clue at all about the Bill of Rights
Test, test, test: practice tests for the practice tests for the real tests. 2-3 hours of homework in lower grades to practice more tests at home. PE? forget it : students do not get this anymore, especially this time of the school year: time only to practice for tests. No time for physical activity at home: two much homework! (homework is more test practice: mindlessly filling in multiple choice circles)
What can be done? (Can’t afford private school)
This is not the way school was when I went: we actually learned and enjoyed most of it. We did not sit around learning how to take and pass tests!
Does anyone else have thoughts about this?

Answer: This is why more and more people are turning to home education, where kids can study anything like and learn a great deal more in considerably less time.
