Density of An Egg
Below is a science experiment on the density of an egg. In this science experiment, we are going to explore the density of a raw egg in water and salt water. The video below illustrates this density of an Egg Experiment. This is a very simple density and eggs science experiment.
What you need for this density of an Egg Experiment
This density of an Egg Experiment is very simple and all you need is a cup of water, a cup of salt water and a raw egg.
The density of an Egg Experiment
Result of this density of a raw Egg Experiment
As you can see in this science experiment video, the raw egg floats in salt water but sinks in regular tap water. So, why did a raw egg float in salt water but sink in water?
By adding salt to water, you are increasing the density of water. Salt water is more dense than water and also more dense then the content of the egg, so the raw egg floats in salt water. But, the egg is more dense than water or water is less dense than egg, so the raw egg sinks to the bottom of the cup in water.
Science Experiment With Eggs

Question: What is the control for this science experiment?
I am having troubles with my homework. The experiment is:
Different masses are attached to the end of a spring and then is dropped at a certain height so that it hits an egg without breaking it.
I can’t figure out what the control for this type of experiment is!!!
HELP!
Answer: preform a trial to ensure the egg can break, to prove your not using some uber-egg.
the height is NOT the control, the height is a CONSTANT.

Floating Egg Science Experiment
Egg experiments such as Floating Egg Science Experiment are very easy to do and are very popular among children studying sciences and conducting Science Experiments. We have already discussed Egg Drop Experiments and general Egg Floating Experiments. Now we take the Egg Floating Experiment further.
Equipment needed for the Floating Egg Science Experiment 2
Floating egg science experiment Stage 2 is as easy as the original Floating egg science experiment. The only equipment needed are two glasses, salt, one egg, and water.
Method of the Floating Egg Science Experiment 2
-
Fill one glass half full of fresh water.
-
Fill one glass half full of very salty water (such as from the original Egg Floating Experiment).
-
Very carefully pour the fresh water into the salt water. Try not to let the liquids mix.
-
Gently lower the egg into the water that is half salt water and half fresh water.
Result of the Floating Egg Science Experiment 2:
The egg should float on salt water and sink in fresh water. The result looks like the egg is suspended in the middle of the glass. This is sometimes used in Magic show for children.
