Science Experiments Oil And Water

Question: Science fair gone wrong?? Does anyone have an explanation for this?
Hey, my friend and I “watered” 7 different aloe vera plants with 7 different liquids over the course of 9 weeks and calculated the growth of the plants. We used water as our control & salt water, sugar water, orange gateorade, shampoo, corn oil, and whole milk as our other independent variables. We thought that oil/ shampoo would kill the plants but they ended up growing the most!! I know that the experiment doesn’t have to be “correct”, but i don’t understand how this happened, i mean we should have some sort of an explanation before we present. i believe we did everything correctly…if anyone could help it would be great!!!
Answer: Shampoo is high in certain Amino acids and Vitamins especially if it was high dollar shampoo, Vegetable Oil has a high concentration of, you guessed it, dead plant materials, thats all i can think of at any rate, but i would suspect since Aloe Vera Oil is of course an oil than the plant absorbed it, the aloe oil from that particular plant might not be as potent as the others, hope i helped
