Science Experiments Using Baking Soda

Question: Jeez. Another Problem of the Week for science, help please?
Megan’s task was to see if she could inflate a balloon using chemicals. Megan knew that baking soda and vinegar would fizz and produce a gas. However, her teacher didn’t give her any vinegar to use, only diluted hydrochloric acid (HCI). Megan thought she could use the HCI in place of the vinegar. Megan put on her safety gloves and got to work. She put HCI in an Erlenmeyer flask and baking soda in a balloon. She stretched the opening of the balloon over the top of the flask and held the balloon to the side so the baking soda didn’t spill out. She the lifted the balloon and the two chemicals mixed as the baking soda fell in to the flask. The balloon inflated.
Questions:
A. What is the hypothesis for Megan’s experiment? (Use proper format)
B.What was the independent variable in Megan’s experiment?
C.What was the dependent variable in Megan’s experiment?
D. Name at least 2 safety rules Megan broke.
Answer: Ah…The joys of science, lol.
