Question: What is a good plant to grow for my science experiment? please help.?

ok so i called pike and home depot and there freaking retarted. they recommended carrot and turnup……….i gotta grow it indoors and its gotta last atleast like a month………………………………………….also do u think lake water will kill a plant??? j/w anywho, just post please
