Science Experiments Using Household Items

Question: good insulators? (grade 8 science project)?
hi everyone,
i was just wondering what some good insulators are, for my science experiment:
i have to keep an ice cube frozen for min 6hrs and i can’t use anything electrical, coolers, and i cant pre-freeze my project
using household items, i have to create an insulating project to save an ice cube…. any ideas??
what materials should i use?
if you have done this project, what works best?
thanks for all your help!
i was thinking of using a pencil case, stuff it with layers if cotton balls, newspaper, styrofoam, and wood shavings…then put the ice in the shavings, and cover the box with foil to reflect heat…is this a good idea?
Answer: I won first place doing an insulation science project in 6th grade.
I used bubble wrap as one of my insulators, which I thought would work well because, like cellulose, most commonly used to insulate buildings, it has pockets in which to hold heat or cold.
