Effects of Water Temperature

This section of Science Experiments deals with effects of water temperature change. The effects of water temperature science fair experiment is one of the very simple home Science Experiments

Purpose of this science experiment

The purpose of this science experiment is to explore expansion of water.

What happens when water freezes? why does water expand when it freezes? why does water expand when frozen?

Does water expend or contract under different temperature? All these Science Experiments questions are often asked. Below is the Science Experiments that will show the effects of water temperature on water.

The concept of expansion and contraction of water and other metals

Many things (including water) expand or contract when they change temperature. Have you ever noticed, when standing by a railroad track, why there are gaps in the rails at certain intervals? The spaces in the rails allow them room to “grow,” in case they expand; otherwise, the rails would buckle. Track engineers know exactly how big the gaps should be to allow for this rail expansion.

If you have electric baseboard heat in your home, you may have heard the crackling sounds it makes when the metal fins heat up or cool down. That’s because the fins are expanding and contracting. Gaps in the roadway of bridges are also there to allow for expansion and contraction from temperature changes.

Equipment you will need for this science fair experiment

In this effects of water temperature science experiment, you need

  • empty metal soup can
  • water
  • use of a freezer
  • small bowl

Question: Fun and exciting things to do with homemade slime.?

    Hi all

I’m looking to jazz up an “Icky Sticky” Science experiment I am conducting.

Once we make the boring old slime… what sort of fun and exciting things can we do with it?

    S’all yours!

Answer: I’ve had this experiment! Ok, so you can…

Rub it throught your fingers in a bucket full of hot chocolate and watch the fun begin!

Drop the slime into a 16 oz cup full of Jack Daniels Whiskey+pop rocks and it sizzles!

    Question: Interesting experiment?

For physics, I have to design a demo/experiment to perform in front of the local elementary school students. The experiment does not have to be about physics, just science in general, and should be interesting, preferably touchable and very obvious; something that would amaze kids. Something like elephant toothpaste, cornstarch goo, or sticking a balloon without it popping. If possible, provide explanation on why your experiment works.

Answer: i just took my kids to a science exhibit and they did a huge bit on dry ice. not that the kids can really touch it alot.. but they showed how you can pour the gas it makes and they got volunteers on stage and used a huge beaker and poured the gas on their head.. then poured a tiny bit of the water out on their heads..ops! the kids liked that. they showed how they could dig a crevice to stand a quarter up in a block of dry ice and the quater vibrated violently back and forth.. they did lots with the dry ice and the kids were very entertained with it.
